Art work is a “Sonic Broome”
Interview with ABC Kimberley on Jon’s latest project at Broome Senior High School:
If you listen to sounds around you, what do you hear?
Are there sounds more particular to where you live, compared to others – different frogs, cicadas, birds.
Artist Jon Tarry turned to sound for his newest piece of art.
It is a 70 metre long perforated piece of rippled metal, illuminated at night, on the exterior of the new double-storey classroom at Broome Senior High School.
He recorded local sounds, converted them into an abstract shape and transposed them on the metal.
